For the last few months, maybe even more, you've been working hard either at the gym or with me, and you look amazing, and you feel great too.
Now it's coming up to that time of year again, time to get on the beach!
If like me, you have fallen in love with training and cant bare to think of a week with no exercise then there are a few things you can take with you so you can work out, even while you're away.
NOTE: I'm sort of in two minds about training on holiday, holidays are a fantastic way to rest and reset ready for your return, but then I know myself (and others) who get antsy if they don't get in a little workout!
So here are a few ideas of what you can do:
Resistance bands are great as they are light weight, can be used anywhere and you can pretty much add resistance to every exercise you do! Use these bands for a light workout on your arms, with rows, bicep curls, tricep kickbacks, upright rows, the list goes on!
Also, the mini bands (clients you know the ones that you put around your calves) are a brilliant workout for your legs!
TRX is a brand of suspension trainer, but you can get cheaper versions. You hook this around a post or a tree and can do SO many exercises using your body weight as the resistance. Lightweight and perfect to pack into your suitcase.
Holiday HIIT session with the family
I did this with my sister, finance and brother in law last year in Ibiza and it was actually really good fun. So there are 4 stations:
1. Ab crunches
2. Press ups
4. Jump lunges
Each station you spend 30 seconds on then move to the next with no rest. Then you rest for a full 2 minutes after completing the circuit. Put on the music and do it first thing in the morning or after the sun has gone down, drink plenty of water!!
Walk after breakfast
If you don't want to invest in anything like this, then how about including a daily walk in your schedule, before you sit down for a day at the pool. Or set yourself a number of lengths to swim across the course of the day.
Remember though, holidays are the perfect time to have a break, rest and reset- even from exercise. Oh and enjoy yourself!
You won't loose all your strength gains in a 2 week holiday, don't panic!
